Featured above is Ilona’s solo performance work, Holy Ground (2022), marked the end of her 2022 residency at PICA (Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, Western Australia) after exhibiting at Hatched 2022. Ilona engaged with her ever-evolving, inner conflicts between her upbringing in the Church alongside her deep connection to her ancestral spirituality. This work contemplates the contradictions of holding both belief systems, the roots of how we came to know Christianity as Aboriginal People and common grounds.
